More than 130 homes across Hertfordshire were plunged into darkness after a telegraph pole fire caused a power cut.
Some families on Mayflower Road in St Albans are still without power after the Christmas Day blaze this afternoon (December 25).
UK Power Networks are predicting the ordeal will be wrapped up by 4.30pm, with specialist engineers sent out after the fire.
A spokesperson for the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted: “Both St Albans crews were call to a telegraph pole on fire on Mayflower Road.
“A powder Extinguisher was used and both BT and UK Power networks have attended to hopefully get the power back on for those affected.”
UK Power Networks wrote on their website: “We're sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.
“As this was an unexpected power cut, we didn't know it was going to happen so we were unable to give you advanced notice.
“We estimate your power will be back on by: 25 Dec 15:30 – 16:30 We may be able to get some customers on sooner.
“The timeframe may change and be extended depending on our investigations and the work involved to resolve the issue.”
